A few words about Koyel
Born in Kolkata Koyel got herself married with Hindustani Classical Music from her teens.She took first lesson from Shree pulin Chakraborty of Kirana Gharana.With the passage of time the child grew up to the maturity to go further down the line and started more and more 'rewaaz'.The girl got into detail Maestro "Shree Nihar ranjan bandhopadhya Ex Head of the department of Hindustani Classical Division of Rabindra Bharati University.Shree Bandhopadhya started showing the torch by unfolding the mystery and melody of Bishnupur Gharana step by step.Now , koyel got her feet into the real world of music and discovery of age old classical music.She has learnt the basics of Thumri and Dadra with sheer conviction and imagination.Time flows on and Koyel has become more and more elegant and true towards her delivery,perfection and compactness.The honour and reward also started showering on her to do the justice with this promising and talented lady with no delay.Shree Harashankar Bhattacharya the famous sitarist is also one of the main man behind her inspiration.Shree Bhattacharya is the uncle of Koyel.

1. First class first position in B.A(Vocal Music Hons.)From Rabindra Bharati University in the year 2002.
2. Received National scholarship in Kheyal in 2002 from the Ministry of Tourism & Culture,Department of Culture,Govt.of India.
3. 1st in Golden Talent Comtest in the year 2003 organized by famous Ravi Kichlu Foundation, kolkata.
4. Won the 2nd position in Thumri & Dadra in the All India Radio Music Competition in 2002 from Kolkata.
5. 1st place in Golden Talent & Search Contest in Thumri 2002 & Kheyal 2004 organised by Dover Lane Music Conference,Kolkata.
6. Won The 2nd position in Kheyal in the All India Radio Music competition in 2003 from kolkata.
7. 1st in Kheyal & 2nd in Thumri in West Bengal State Music Academy Competition in 2003.
8. 1st Class in M.A(Vocal Music,Kheyal) from Rabindra Bharati University in the year 2004.
9. Regular Artiste of Kheyal & Thumri of A.I.R Kolkata.
10. Sur Mani Award winner in 2005 from Sur Singar Samsad- Mumbai.
